What Is Drain Repair Lining (No‑Dig)?

Traditionally, fixing a broken or leaking underground pipe meant pulling up your driveway, digging up your garden, or disrupting your business premises.

With modern Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP) lining and structural patch lining, we eliminate the need for excavation. Instead, we create a brand new, ultra-durable “pipe within a pipe” using existing access points (manholes).

  • Sectional Patch Lining

If your drain only has a localized fault—such as a single cracked joint, a small hole, or isolated tree root damage—we apply a localized patch liner. This targets and seals the specific point of failure perfectly, saving you the cost of lining the entire system.

  • Full Length Drain Relining

For longer sections of structural deterioration, we line the full length of the run, leaving behind a smooth, continuous, joint-free pipe.

If you’ve been told that a major excavation is your only option, contact our specialists. We can provide a second opinion using our state-of-the-art drain lining technology.

The Benefits of Choosing Trenchless Drain Repairs

Trenchless drain repair
  • No Disruption: No digging, no heavy excavators, and no damage to your beautifully paved driveways, patios, or commercial walkways.
  • Highly Cost-Effective: By eliminating excavation and surface reinstatement costs, patch lining is significantly cheaper than traditional methods.
  • Built to Last 50+ Years: The epoxy-resin liners we install cure to become stronger than the original clay or concrete pipe, offering a permanent structural repair with a 50+ year design life.
  • Prevents Root Ingress & Leaks: The seamless finish permanently seals cracks, completely stopping groundwater leaks (infiltration) and blocking tree roots from breaking back into your system.

What Types of Drain Damage Can Patch Lining Fix?

Hertfordshire’s unique mix of chalky soils, heavy clay, and older Victorian pipework presents distinct structural challenges. Our trenchless repairs are designed to fix:

  • Cracks, Fractures & Fractured Pipes: Caused by ground movement or age.
  • Displaced or Open Pipe Joints: Where gaps open up, causing waste to snag and cause frequent blockages.
  • Tree Root Intrusion: Where hungry roots force their way into joints to find water.
  • Leaking Underground Drains: Preventing water from escaping and washing away subsoil, which can lead to subsidence.

Note: While lining is suitable for the vast majority of pipe defects, it cannot fix a completely collapsed drain. If your drain has fully collapsed, our local team can carry out safe, fully managed Drain Excavation Services.

Frequently Asked Questions About Drain Repairs

What is CIPP lining?

There is no difference between CIPP and drain relining. Drain lining, drain relining, and CIPP all refer to the same trenchless process of creating a new pipe inside an old one. The terms are used interchangeably in the industry.

Will it reduce pipe diameter?

The liner is very thin. Any minimal reduction in diameter is more than compensated for by the much smoother surface, which often improves flow capacity and reduces blockages.

Is it cheaper than excavation?

Yes, in almost every case. When you factor in the total cost of digging, labour, and full reinstatement of surfaces like driveways or patios, relining is the far more cost-effective choice.

How long does the repair last?

Our CIPP drain repair installations have a design life of 50 years or more, making it a permanent structural repair that will stand the test of time.
